Net Neutrality

Google CEO Eric Schmidt has written an open letter to the Google User community (yes, the world..) about Net Neutrality, which can be found here.

An excerpt..

Today the Internet is an information highway where anybody – no matter how large or small, how traditional or unconventional – has equal access. But the phone and cable monopolies, who control almost all Internet access, want the power to choose who gets access to high-speed lanes and whose content gets seen first and fastest. They want to build a two-tiered system and block the on-ramps for those who can’t pay.

I think this will destroy the disruptive power of the Internet and WILL be generally bad for the consumer. So, if you live in the US and think this is a bad idea, please do call your representative and let your opinions be heard.

PS Will something like this happen in India? Any opinions on that welcome..
